WELCOME . . . . home to "Eyecatchers" and "Wind In The Willow" ~ New Zealand, my little corner where I will be posting all sorts of arty, whimsical and other quirky things.

My name is Greta and I live in a fabulous place here in Nelson (in case you are wondering where exactly it is, it is at the very top of the South Island).  Nelson is known in New Zealand for it's Art and Crafts and we are spoilt for talent and variety.

My main interest, (when I have some spare time) is fine-line drawing and I will be posting my lastest editions here for all to have a look at.  I will also be posting some of my arty-friends work up also, to give abit of variety.  There will be availability to purchase also (in case you happen to find something of interest).

nelson houses postcards

I have featured these before on Eyecatchers but thought would re~feature them as they have had loads of comments from family and friends who like to use them . . . . I have to say that the places featured on them are some of my favourite houses in the Nelson district . . . .

time flies

Wow, I can't believe it's that time of year . . . . it has gone so quickly . . . . the above drawing is of a local house which I admire (I've always wanted to live in a Character home like this and renovate it ~ hard work I'm sure, but think of the end result.) ~ taken from The Nostalgic Nelson 2011 Calendar.

south island calendar

Just put together the above "Nostalgic South Island Calendar" (for any year) . . . . some of my favourite drawings are featured in this Calendar, houses from the three main towns of the South Island ~ Christchurch, Dunedin and Christchurch . . . .

quirky cottage

 
 I have a friend who has wanted me to draw her cottage for a long time now and I have finally got around to doing it . . . . I've actually enjoyed putting it down on paper as the cottage has a lot of charm and the assortment of plants in the garden gives the drawing abit of extra something . . . .

mid year

I can't believe it's halfway through 2011 already ~ though in saying that, they do say that "time flies when you are having fun", so can't be all bad (smiling) . . . . above is a drawing I did last year ~ a lovely character house up on the Port Hills overlooking Tasman Bay ~ such a breathtaking view . . . .

Aren't these stunning . . . . just a couple of paintings that have been completed by Denise at Moighart . . . . the colours in these are incredibly lush + vibrant ~ the photos don't do them justice, but I had to share . . . .

latest pen'n'ink

This is the latest I've been working on . . . . it will be gracing the cover of next year's Nostalgic Nelson Calendar . . . . yes, would you believe I've started on the next lot of drawings of Nelson places for 2012 and I've decided that the above is my favourite so hence going on the front . . . .

Aren't these stunning . . . . Denise from Moighart recently did these for a Craft Fair called Rose Day ~ painted in a mixture of Oil and Acrylic I think they are incredibly Eyecatching (smiling) . . . . what do you think?

looking back

Wow ~ it's been over 1 whole year since I've been blogging and here's a selection of Pen'n'Ink Drawings that I've had featured here on Eyecatchers' over the last year . . . . what a wonderful one its been and I'm looking forward to another "creative" one in 2011!

kiwi bird

This is a recent painting that Denise of Moighart has done of our national bird ~ the Kiwi ~ I think she has captured the quirky little bird really well!  Painted both in Oil and Acrylic she has given the painting real depth ~ I'm trying to encourage her to get some printed in Souvenir Card format, ideal to send to overseas family and friends . . . .
